It does not automatically mean the star connector failed, but it does mean the diagnosis should look at the network as a system.

If you disconnect a connector, do it gently and only when the service procedure allows it. Do not scrape terminals with random tools. Network terminals are small, and spreading or damaging them can create a fault that was not there before.

Fixes That Actually Make Sense

If the connector is simply loose, reseating it and making sure the lock is fully engaged may solve an intermittent problem. If a terminal is backed out, bent, spread, corroded, or contaminated, the repair may require terminal repair, connector cleaning, or replacement of a pigtail or harness section.
